Liverpool International Horse Show Donate to Tim Stockdale Foundation

Thanks to spectators at last year’s TheraplateUK Liverpool International Horse Show a generous donation has been made to the Tim Stockdale Foundation.

The foundation was set up in memory of British showjumping star Tim Stockdale, who died in November 2018 aged 54, a month after being diagnosed with cancer.

Throughout the show a ‘text to win’ competition was run with proceeds going to the foundation and a fantastic £1,500 was raised.

Said Tim’s wife Laura: “We are so grateful to the Liverpool International Horse Show audience for donating so generously to the Tim Stockdale Foundation.

“The £1,500 is a huge amount to have raised.  This will make a fantastic contribution to our plans to enable greater participation in sports for young people.  Thank you from me and my sons Joseph and Mark.”

Funds will be used to provide improved opportunities in sports, with a focus on emerging young talent.

Added Liverpool International Horse Show, President Nina Barbour: “Tim Stockdale brought so much to the sport of showjumping and we are delighted to boost the funds for the foundation.  Thank you to everyone for giving to this great cause.”

The foundation’s funds raised so far have already been used to help young Harry Banks a 10-year-old bubbly, smiley, very cheeky, but completely adorable boy who has been battling Neuroblastoma, a very rare and aggressive children’s cancer.

Tim represented Team GB at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, narrowly missing out on a medal by finishing fourth in the team event.

He rode for GB more than 50 times in the Nations Cup, and also competed in the World Equestrian Games in 2002 and the European Championships in 2009.

This year’s Liverpool International Horse Show will see a host of leading names in action from December 28 to 31, 2019 at The M&S Bank Arena on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront.
